The mix of elegant, classic and sleek, modern architecture along tree lined streets give River North its posh ambiance. Stroll along streets lined with juice bars, coffee shops, and boutiques to the east and industrial lofts and art galleries to the west. Catch live music and cigars with old-time-Chicago vibes at the Redhead Piano Bar, go dancing at one of River North’s many nightclubs, or enjoy top notch dining at one of many upscale restaurants within the neighborhood or outdoors along the Riverwalk!
River North is home to Merchandise Mart, a 4 million square foot commercial building that is now home to design studios, offices, and startup incubators like 1871 and Matter (not to mention their second-to-none food court). It also houses its own CTA brown and purple line station. Merchandise Mart is so large that at one point, it even had its own zip code! Friday evenings in the spring and summer, stroll along the Riverwalk as live art installations are projected onto Merchandise Mart’s sprawling facade.
