Holiday activities kick off today in downtown Chicago. From Lincoln Park to the Loop, here are some of the top places to greet the start of the holiday season, all kicking off the evening of November 19th!

Festival of Lights

Be a tourist in your own city (or an actual tourist) at the Festival of Lights on Michigan Avenue! From ice skating, a live DJ, to the lighting of the towering Christmas tree in Millennium Park, and of course the glittering lights lining the Magnificent Mile, there’s no better place to awaken your holiday spirit than the Festival of Lights in the Loop!

Zoo Lights

At 35 acres of lushly landscaped grounds, Lincoln Park Zoo is the fourth oldest zoo in North America and one of the only free zoos in the country. Each year, Lincoln Park Zoo hosts ZooLights, featuring millions of holiday lights, (yes, millions), ice sculptures, live entertainment, and seasonal fare. Admission is $5 but be sure to check out the Lincoln Park Zoo website for free admission dates!

Christkindl Market

Inspired by German tradition, Christkindl Market is an annual Chicago favorite. Browse artisan and handmade holiday gifts and grab a mug of spiced wine as you stroll through this quaint outdoor market. You’ll truly be transported to another place!
