SONO (South of North Avenue) is the sub neighborhood sandwiched between Lincoln Park and Old Town with both tree-lined residential streets and bustling strips of retail and dining. Because of its prime location it has only increased in popularity in recent years. Whether you’ve just moved into the neighborhood or you’re visiting for the day, here’s your guide to SONO!

Dining and Entertainment

Fast casual spots like Sweetgreen, Roti, Potbelly, Starbucks, and Nando’s are all conveniently located near the North and Clybourn intersection. If you’re looking for casual sit-down restaurants, Earl’s Kitchen, Max and Leo’s Artisan Pizza, and Kizuki Ramen are located in the New City complex.

For more upscale dining, some neighborhood favorites include Trattoria Gianni for Italian fare and Boka, a Michelin Star and James Beard award winning contemporary concept known for their seasonal American menu and posh ambiance.

SONO is home to a vibrant live entertainment scene. Steppenwolf and The Royal George theatres are both located in the area just up Halsted Street. Joe’s on Weed Street is a neighborhood favorite for great live music! Click here to see their upcoming concerts!
